I think it's going to work this time. I tried to make a new forum last week, but could not type any information. So, a little late...
My daughter Shannon and I planned to go to see the total eclipse 7 years ago, after she went to the previous one. So, a year early, I made motel reservations. Many places were charging over $500 a night! I found a Quality Inn in Shelburne VT for $250 a night, with two queen size beds. Perfect. The Shelburne Museum hosted an eclipse party, just a couple miles down the road from the motel. And my sister lives just a few miles from there. When I say it was incredible and awe inspiring, that is not hyperbole. Some of Shannon's photos are up on her web site https://seeingspotsphoto.wordpress.com/.
In two years, there will be total eclipse in Iceand. I bet my daughter will be there!
I happen to live in a place that was in the path of totality. Having experienced a number of partial eclipses before, I sort of thought "ho-hum."
Definitely WRONG!
A total eclipse is really pretty amazing. You get a 360-degree sunset, marked drop in temperature, the birds all stop singing, and it's oddly dark at midday before light returns.
A very cool experience.
